EDALE SKYLINE PEAK DISTRICT CHALLENGE WALK

32 km (20 miles) – 1,200 metres of ascent – 10 hours
The Edale Skyline Challenge Walk traces a high-level route around the head of the beautiful valley of Edale in the Peak District, following ridges and escarpments including Win Hill, Kinder Scout, Brown Knoll, Lord’s Seat, Rushup Edge, Mam Tor and Lose Hill.
Highlights include: Kinder Scout and the weird and wonderful rock formations of the Woolpacks, the ‘shivering mountain’ of Mam Tor, the Great Ridge, the battle of Lose Hill and Win Hill, Peak District’s finest viewpoint, ancient Hope Cross and its Roman Road, and the Madwoman’s Stones!
It is a demanding walk (20 miles) and so must be approached with preparation and training, but it is also an rewarding walk that will be remembered for many years for its variety of landscapes, terrain and amazing views.
Mark Reid knows Edale and the Peak District like the back of his hand and will guide you around this route (whilst also sharing his knowledge of the area), so that you can forget about navigating and concentrate on enjoying the walk instead!
This guided walk is designed for solo or small groups of walkers who want to take on the Edale Skyline Walk, but don’t want to worry about route finding.

OUTLINE OF THE DAY
7:30am: Meet at Hope village (there is a train station at Hope)
8am – 6pm: Fully guided walk around the Edale Skyline Walk
6pm: Debrief back at Hope, then head home.
