CASTLETON – OUR BASE FOR THE WEEKEND

This walking break will be based from the beautiful village of Castleton in the heart of the Peak District National Park where the White Peak (limestone) meets the Dark Peak (gritstone). This really is a lovely part of the country, with magnificent hills and valleys all around including Mam Tor (the ‘shivering mountain’), the Great Ridge, Hope Valley, Cave Dale and Edale. Castleton is a lovely village of stone-built houses with Peveril Castle, dating back to Norman times, perched high above on an outcrop of rock. Here you will also find amazing show caves, interesting shops and some great pubs.

We’ll explore beautiful valley paths, wind-swept hills and broad ridges as well as lovely villages, magnificent views and cosy pubs.

Accommodation ranges from self catering to B&Bs, pubs and a Youth Hostel. This walking weekend will be based at the Castle Hotel at Castleton in the heart of the village, with cosy corners, log fires and great food.
