Kinder Scout Skyline Peak District Challenge Walk

Walk around the entire escarpment of Kinder Scout in one day
30 km (19 miles) – 975 metres of ascent – 10 hours
The Kinder Scout Skyline Challenge Walk traces a high-level route around the entire escarpment of Kinder Scout in one day, with incredible moorland landscapes and amazing views across the Vale of Edale, Woodlands Valley and Sett Valley following the dramatic rim of the high moorland plateau of Kinder Scout with its gritstone tors, high knolls and amazingly deep cloughs (ravines).
Devised by Mark Reid, the Kinder Scout Skyline promises to be become a classic Peak District challenge walk.
Highlights include: Walking around the entire escarpment of the high moorland plateau of Kinder Scout in the Peak District with constantly changing views and landscapes including the beautiful Vale of Edale, the gritstone tors of Ringing Roger and Madwoman’s Stones, the promontory of Fairbrook Naze high above Woodlands Valley, Sandy Heys and the Kinder Mass Trespass of 1932, Kinder Downfall waterfall, the highpoint of Kinder Low (633m) and the weird and wonderful rock formations of the Woolpacks.
The Kinder Scout Skyline is a demanding walk (19 miles) and so must be approached with preparation and training, but it is also an rewarding walk that will be remembered for many years for its variety of landscapes, terrain and amazing views.
Mark Reid knows Edale, Kinder Scout and the Peak District like the back of his hand and will guide you around this route (whilst also sharing his knowledge of the area), so that you can forget about navigating and concentrate on enjoying the walk instead!
This guided walk is designed for solo or small groups of walkers who want to take on the Kinder Scout Skyline Challenge Walk, but don’t want to worry about route finding.

OUTLINE OF THE DAY
7:45am: Meet at Edale village (there is a train station at Edale)
8am – 6pm: Fully guided walk around the Kinder Scout Skyline Walk
6pm: Debrief back at Edale, then head home.
