Lake District Mountain Adventure Glenridding, Eastern Fells

Spend an enjoyable and adventurous two days at Glenridding in the Lake District, hiking some of Lakeland’s most iconic mountains in the Eastern Fells guided by Mark Reid, an experienced Mountain Leader.

Discover little-known paths, adventurous routes, ridges and summits, taking you away from crowds and into a world of majestic mountains. Our routes will take us onto the mountains and fells that surround Glenridding including the famous mountains of Helvellyn, Nethermost Pike, Dollywaggon Pike, Fairfield and St Sunday Crag.

Relax in the evening with your fellow mountain walkers at the Ullswater Inn at Glenridding.

GLENRIDDING, LAKE DISTRICT

This walking event will be based at Glenridding which lies at the head of Ullswater, with the imposing mountains of the Eastern Fells of the Lake District rising high above. Glenridding offers a range of accommodation including hotels, B&Bs, campsite and Youth Hostel. There are outdoor shops, cafes and well-stocked village shops.

OUTLINE OF THE EVENT

DAY ONE – HELVELLYN RANGE
9am:
Meet at Glenridding for a chat about the day
9:15am – 5pm: Guided mountain walk up onto the Helvellyn Range, with mountains such as Helvellyn, Catstye Cam, Nethermost Pike and Dollywaggon Pike. These routes may include Grade 1 scrambles along the famous arêtes of Striding Edge, Swirral Edge or Nethermost Pike East Ridge.
8pm: Meet at the Ullswater Inn to recount our day’s adventures over a meal and drink (optional)

DAY TWO – FAIRFIELD RANGE
9am: Meet at Glenridding for a chat about the day
9:15am – 4:30pm: Guided mountain walk up onto the Fairfield Range, with mountains such as St Sunday Crag, Cofa Pike, Fairfield, Hart Crag and Hartsop above How.

Please note: The precise routes and mountains will be decided each day, given weather conditions and group needs. All walks will include mountainous terrain, steep ground and mountain summits; we may experience adverse weather conditions. Some walks may include Grade 1 scrambles, along narrow and exposed paths or ridges (aretes). All timings and distances are approximate.
